THE STUDY OF AESTHETICAL VALUES IN J. K ROWLING, Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone

Since June 30, 1997 the first novel the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone release in the United States, retitled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has gained immense popularity. These phenomena made me interesting. According to me this novel can be good source for reader because this kind of novel gives reader knowledge that is useful in life or follow the development on science itself for kids. And reading novel makes kids and often adult sharing a common reading experience.
Novel is including to literature. Literature falls into two majors types. Those are written and oral literature. Oral literature includes ballad, myth, jokes, folktales, whereas written source has drama, poetry non fictional literature, and novel. Literature especially novel also consists of values for education, such as religious values, ethical values, philosophical values and aesthetical values.
Aesthetical values are about beauty. The concept of aesthetical values refers to that value which causes an object to be a work of art. Aesthetic appreciation of beauty is the sensual a rational part of human nature.
In this research, the researcher tried to describe aesthetical values in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The method used in this research is Qualitative by using descriptive approach.
The researcher found two kinds of aesthetical values in the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Aesthetical values based on content in Harry Potter consist of Love and truth. And aesthetical values based on form in Harry Potter and Philosopher's Stone are simile, metaphor, personification, and hyperbole.
