THE ANALYSIS OF EDUCATIONAL VALUES IN “BY THE RIVER PIEDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT” NOVEL BY PAULO COELHO ON JOHN S. BRUBACHER’S PERSPECTIVE

Literature gives pleasure, it has certain magic that transport us from the “real” world to seemingly more remote and enjoyable place. In other hand, literature as a work of imagination presents a story of devise character, situations and aspects of life. It expresses a life which is the imitation of real life using a language as its medium. The literature appears with the language, language literature tries to influence, persuade and change the reader’s personality at the end. A novel is a life in the form of book; every life has an epigraph, a title, a publisher, a foreword, a preface, a text, foot-notes and etc. In the fact there are elements and cases that can influence some experience to the reader such as the characterizations or even educational values in the novel and most of us were influence with the literature as a novel.
The focus of this study are the finding the educational values in “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” novel by Paulo Coelho and how the educational values appear in “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” novel by Paulo Coelho based on John S. Brubacher perspective.
In this study, the objectives are identify the educational values in “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” novel by Paulo Coelho and describe the educational values in “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” novel by Paulo Coelho based on John S. Brubacher perspective.
This research used qualitative approach, while the research method applied in this study is descriptive research. The qualitative approach here is to describe the data in the form of words. The data is taken from “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” novel by Paulo Coelho. In this study, the instrument used observation text. He has searched, collected, and read the data that contain educational values then analyze them in detail about the “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” novel by Paulo Coelho based on John S. Brubacher perspective.
The result of analyzing data shows the educational values that has appears in “By the River Piedra I sat down and wept” novel by Paulo Coelho based on John S. Brubacher perspective. The researcher found 33 educational values in the “By The River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” novel by Paulo Coelho, Those are 31 that according to John. S. Brubacher’s perspective, and divide in to (12 educational values in the first statement of John. S. Brubacher’s), (12 educational values in the second statement) and (7 educational values in the third statement) and (the two another education isn’t including on John. S. Brubacher’s). Those all are the finding of this research.
