A STUDY ON TEACHING AND LEARNING VOCABULARY USING GUIDED DISCOVERY LEARNING PROCEDURE TO THE SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SDN I BLUTO SUMENEP

In education school, Teaching is one of action to transfer knowledge to some one consciously. The teaching process has to interest the students, so that the students are bored in classroom, especially, in junior high school level, that’s providing guided discovery learning process, to make students interested and fun when learn in classroom. As stated by Muhammad Faiq Dzaky that guided discovery learning to give feel interesting to Students in discovering something by their selves. Vocabulary subject is one of the first steps to learn a language. The position of vocabulary skill is as basic from English skill. According to Caroline T. Line that vocabulary should be integrated into teaching the four skills, such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Finally, the elementary school students don’t get difficulty in studying English at higher level.
There are two problem statements in this study. The first is how the teaching vocabulary process by using guided discovery learning at SDN I Bluto Sumenep. The second one is what perception’s students to teaching English process at SDN I Bluto Sumenep.
The goals of the study is to know and learn the process teaching vocabulary using guided discovery learning at SDN I Bluto Sumenep, So that the researcher is able to understand maximally on teaching vocabulary using guided discovery learning. The next goals of the study is to know what perception’s student on the English teaching process, although the student doesn’t understand about Guided discovery learning method, but they are feel interest when learning English in the classroom.
In this study, the research was conducted through observation, interview and documentation. The research conducted about for two weeks, from 13th April –26th April.
The result showed that guided discovery learning makes student interested and fun on the teaching vocabulary process beside that the class becomes alive and cooperative because all of the students participated in these activities to the sixth grade student at SDN I Bluto Sumenep and the perception Students that Learning English their make happy, and enjoyable.
Based on these result, it is suggestion that the teacher be creative in teaching vocabulary by using guided discovery learning procedure to the sixth grade student at SDN I Bluto Sumenep, so that all students can felt interested and enjoyable, especially vocabulary material, and the next time, the teacher has to improve on this guided discovery learning procedure way. So that teaching vocabulary by using guided discovery learning process the situation of in the class will be better than before.
