A STUDY ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL THROUGH LEARNING GRAMMAR IN EIGHTH GRADE OF MTs DARUL IHSAN PAKAMBAN DAYA SUMENEP

Speaking skill is important to be had by students and speaking is an important aspect in language learning. It can convey information and ideas, and maintain social relationship by communicating with other. Besides that, grammar is important to help students in speaking English that can be used in everyday communication or in communicative context. So, Learning is important to help students in order to they never think wrong in using grammar when they are speaking English.
Based on the explanation above, so there are two research problems that can be main data in this research, as follow: the first, how is students’ speaking skill at eighth grade of MTs Darul Ihsan Pakamban Daya Sumenep. The second, how is learning grammar activity at eighth grade of MTs Darul Ihsan Pakamban Daya Sumenep.
This research uses qualitative research and the kind of this research is descriptive research. The data sources got from interview, observation, and documentation. The informants are the English teacher and the students at eighth grade of MTs Darul Ihsan Pakamban Daya Sumenep. In checking the data validity is using triangulation.
The result showed that: the first, the students’ speaking skill is good because they never think anymore that their speaking is always wrong in using grammar. The second, the learning grammar activity that used by English teacher at eighth grade is explaining the material, giving the students with many examples, the teacher orders the students to make the form of grammar, giving vocabularies, and practicing in the form of conversation or speaking (role play) by using grammar that learn at that time.
Based on the result above, it suggested for the English teacher to make the learning grammar activity by using many kinds of method and media. It is suggested for students at eighth grade of MTs Darul Ihsan Sumenep to always practice their grammar in speaking English in order to they do not feel wrong in using grammar when they are speaking English.
