Creative is involving the use of skill and the imagination to produce something new. Creative teacher is the one who is able to use new and unusual approaches, methods, and material to reach the aims and motivate learners. While creative teaching is the teacher's skill in teaching English, including skill of managing, presenting, questioning, designing, running activities and relating with students.
James P. Downing has classified in his book about the skill for creative teaching, they are: creative in managing, presenting, questioning, designing, running activities and relating between students and teacher.
From the statement above, the writer is interested in conducting a research about the study of teacher's creative teaching in English teaching at MTs An-Nawari Bluto.
To make this research easier, the researcher tries to make some questions of the background of this study, so that it can help the writer knows about the study deeply. The questions are: first, what are the criteria of creative teacher in MTs An-Nawari? And the second, What are the criteria of creative teaching in teaching English creatively at MTs An-Nawari?
Based on the problem of study in this study the researcher is designed about:
First, To describe the criteria of a creative teacher in MTs An-Nawari
And the second, to explain the criteria of creative teaching in teaching English creatively at MTs An-Nawari
In this research, the researcher uses the qualitative research. The kind of this research is descriptive. Descriptive is a research design to obtain information concerning the current status of phenomena. It means that descriptive is a kind of research that used to get data and information base on the phenomena.
The sources of this research are gotten by observation to the class, by interview orally to the subject of research, documentation that contains all things relate to this research. In effort data validity of data gotten in field in order that data is not fictive so the researcher checks the data with triangulation.
Based on the researcher’s finding in this research that it is done by observing, interviewing, and documenting, researcher will explain the research founding. As the research found that the teacher of MTs An-Nawari uses some strategies teaching learning. It is suitable with james and saiful arif’s opinion about the using of variation in the class.
The strategies used are greeting. The teacher greets the studebts by saying “how are you?”. Then the students answer by saying “ Alhamdulillah. Very amazing. Allahu akbar”. It is suitable with Saiful opinion about the creativity of opening the class. Then, the teacher makes some groups in her class. Sometimes the teacher uses song to deliver material. Or to make this class interesting, the teacher uses role play. It is suitable with James’s opinion about the tool of creative teaching.
The teacher presents the material the material and many ways such as explained by her or using song to explain and the explanation is clear enough. The teachers also ask some questions to students. She used practicing in give some assignment to make students understand deeply. It is suitable with James’ opinion about the activity that can develop student’s creative initiative as well as mastery of skill.
The researcher’ suggestion is the teachers should use their skills when they are using variation in presenting the material more, managing the classroom well, and closing the program
