In this study, the writer analyzed on the problems faced by the teacher in
teaching English speaking at English dormitory program of Bata-Bata English Center (BBEC) Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Islamic Boarding School Palengaan Pamekasan, and how do the teachers overcome the problems? The writer used descriptive qualitative research design in which it only purposed to describe the problems faced by the teacher in teaching English speaking. Meanwhile, the instrument used is interview and observation. The English teachers of speaking class at English dormitory program of Bata-Bata English Center (BBEC) are the subject of this study. To support the data this research also used students as supporting data faced by teacher in teaching English speaking.
After analyzing the problems faced by the teacher in teaching English
speaking at English dormitory program of Bata-Bata English Center (BBEC) Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Islamic Boarding School Palengaan Pamekasan, the writer concludes that there are two the problems faced by the teacher in teaching speaking; a) The teachers got problems
while teaching speaking, b) The teacher try to overcome the problems by using particular techniques and strategies in their teaching.
What are the problems faced by teacher of Bata-Bata English Center (BBEC) at English dormitory program of Bata-Bata Islamic Boarding School Palengaan Pamekasan? Based the investigation, There are four problems faced by the teacher Center (BBEC); a) The time of English speaking program does not support, b) The teacher lacks of various methods and techniques in teaching English speaking, c) Teaching Environment is not comfortable and noisy for teaching and learning of speaking, d) The students have low ability and motivation.
How do the teachers overcome the problems? The teacher overcome the problems were as follows: a) To encourage the students’ motivation and spirit, the teacher use singing song technique in order that the students are not sleepy and tired, the teacher also teach by using games and quizzes to attract the students’ sleepness and tirednesss. b) The Director, Manager and teachers of Bata-Bata English Center (BBEC) conduct english teacher training that discuss about the theory of teaching and learning of language. This program conducted every week. c) The teachers used loud or strong voice to attract the students’ attention, and the teachers sometimes make outdoor speaking class to avoid the niose in the classroom. d) The teacher always gives the students motivation. Besides that the teacher make an-extra class to guide students who has low ability and motivation. In this extra-guide class, the teachers guide students intensively.
