There are two problems in this research, the first is about is there any effect of English course program on students reading comprehension, and second is to what extent the effect of English course program on students reading comprehension at seventh grade of MTs.Tarbiyatus Shibyan Walbanat.
The objectives of the study are to know whether any effect the effect of English course program on students reading comprehension and to know the extent of English course program on student reading comprehension of English at seventh grade of MTs.Tarbiyatus Shibyan Walbanat.
The hypothesis in this study uses an alternative hypothesis (Ha), in which hypothesis states that, there is effect of English course program on students reading comprehension at seventh grade of MTs. Tarbiyatus Shibyan Walbanat.
This study applied quantitative research, which the data are analyzed by using statistical procedures, this research used correlation that involves variable X (independent variable) and variable Y (dependent variable) in this case variable X is English course program and Y is students reading comprehension.
The population in this study is the students at seventh grade of MTs.Tarbiyatus Shibyan Walbanat in academic year 2011-2012. The total number of population is 36 students, so this study is conduct of population research and to obtain the data the researcher used three instruments they are questionnaire, test, and documentation.
The result of this study showed that there is effect of English course program on students reading comprehension at seventh grade of MTs. Tarbiyatus Shibyan Walbanat, it is proven by comparing r count to r table. The value of r count = 0,485 and the value of r table with N = 36 in level significance 5% = 0,329 and in level significance 1% = 0,424. So the values of r count greater than r table. When the researcher consult r count = 0,485 with table of interpretation “r” product moment, the value of r count = 0,485 is in 0,40 till with 0,70 in the level of sufficient interpretation.
Based on the result above, it is suggesed to the English teacher to prepare therself well in conduct the teaching learning process, because English course program is very important to support and motivate the students to study English well.
