The Analysis of Grammarl Error on English Business Letter by the Sixth Semester Students of English Education Program (TBI) at STAIN Pamekasan

Some people use the letter to represent their speech. Letter is an assential part of business. To write a good letter is needed a good grammar. Those are the resarcher’s reason to conduct the research because he believes that the letter is very important for huma life.
In this research, there is one problem that the researcher wants to discuss, it is “What grammar errors on English business letter by the sixth semester students of English Education Program (TBI) at STAIN Pamekasan?”
The objective of this research is to find and describe the grammatical errors on writing English business letter particularly on enquiries letters.
This research uses a qualitatve approach. The data obtained by interview, documentation and observation, then the data were analyzed with descriptive analysis, and after wich all data are checked for validity by triangulation.
Based on the research dacided that the errors are found on writing business letter by sixth semester TBI students are Misinformation, Spelling, Preposition, Comma Splice, Capitel Letter, Singular and Plural Noun, and how to write Compound Sentence.The most grammatical errors on writing business (enquiries) letter are in Misinformation and Spelling aspect. They have low skill in tenses. They can not put the correct verb when the write the senteces using Past Tense-using verb II-after subject, Passive Sentence-using verb II-after auxilary, and et cetera. They also conducted on Spelling. Sometime missimg Consonant and Vowel Letter, using Capital Letter on the middle of sentence, and false word (example: thank and think).
Based on the result of research that the students need to learn more seriously about grammar and the way to write letter well. The lecture also need to pay attention about their students’ condition on grammar and how to write letter through grammar rules.
