The Analysis of Students’ Difficulties in Translating Diary at Fun English Language Learning (FELL) in South Lubangsa Annuqayah Islamic Boarding School, Guluk-guluk Sumenep

Writing is one method of communicating ideas. Here, writing is a means through which people can interact with other objects or express their thoughts. The goal of this practice is to create writing or other works that use a greater and larger vocabulary than before. Diary writing is a type of personal writing in which a person keeps a journal to record details of their daily experiences. Diary can be done in whatever language that is most comfortable for the writer, whether that language is English or another one. Anyone with the ability should write a diary, even if they merely wish to express their feelings when they feel helpless or alone. Translation is one of the things that is difficult for students to face. Some of the factors that influence students' difficulties in translating diary are their lack of vocabulary, lack of strategy in translating, and lack of understanding of what they write.
There are two research focuses in this research focus. First, what the students’ difficulties in translating diary at Fun English Language Learning (FELL) in South Lubangsa Annuqayah Islamic Boarding School Guluk-guluk Sumenep. Second, what are the strenghtness and weaknesses of students’ translating diary at Fun English Language Learning (FELL) in South Lubangsa Annuqayah Islamic Boarding School Guluk-guluk Sumenep
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach that the students’ difficulties in translating diary. Then the strenghtness and weaknesses of students’ translating diary. To collecting the data, the researcher also uses observation, interview and documentation.
The results of this study, researcher can conclude that the process that students generally do in writing diary is that they will write their diary every day. The process they do is almost the same, namely they will determine the topics they will write about they will pour their ideas into their diary in the form of their first language which they then change into English form taking into account the appropriate vocabulary and grammar. With what they wrote, then after they finish writing, the results of the writing will be corrected. In the process of translating, students certainly find difficulties, strengths, and weaknesses during the process of translating their diary. Based on the results above, it is suggested to the teacher or proofreader to be more careful in correcting student writing. For students, the researcher suggests that they always have ideas to write in their diary so that they can improve the vocabulary they get from translating their diary and their writing skills.
