The Achievement of Children’s English Language Acquisition through Watching Youtube Kids Videos at RA Qurratul Uyun Trasak Pamekasan
Key Words: English Language Acquisition, Youtube, Young Learners.
English language acquisition is the process of how someone acquire an
English language that influenced by their environment, so they can understand
and use the language in their daily life. In this research, focus on how the
children acquire English language as their foreign language through watching
youtube kids videos. The videos is an English kids video so that can make the
young learners easier to acquire an English language.Young learners is students
who have a 4-5 years old, they can interest to watch kids videos at youtube. The
researcher using youtube as a tool to be implemented to young learners by
giving them English kids videos.
This study aims to find out wether students of RA Qurratul Uyun will have
better achievement of English language acquisition after watching youtube kids
videos and how significance is the effect of watching youtube kids videos to the
students’ English language acquisition at RA Qurratul Uyun. This research use
quantitative approach, that is pre-expeimental design. Where the researcher only
research one group without control group, pre-test and post-test. One group
given pre-test, then the researcher gave treatment that was watching youtube
kids videosand gave post-test to students’ RA Qurratul Uyun Trasak Pamekasan.
The population of this research is students of B class of RA Qurratul Uyun
Trasak Pamekasan. Meanwhile, the sample of this research used a simple
random sampling so that all of the population which consist of 15 students of
RA Qurratul Uyun Trasak Pamekasan are the sample of this research because
the population are less than 100 respondents.
The result of this research is the students of RA Qurratul Uyun have better
achievement of English language acquisition after watching kids videos through
youtube. It can be proven by the result of mean score of pre-test is higher than
mean score of post-test. It is 53,33 as mean score of pre-test and 90,66 as the
mean score of post-test (90,66 > 53,33). It means that students have higher
achievement of English language acquisition by 37,33. Meanwhile, the value of t
test is 6,254 which is higher tan the value of ttable that is 2,14 with thw
significance level of 5% (0,05%). Therefore, it can be conclude that students of
B class of RA Qurratul Uyun have higher achievement of English language
acquisition after watching youtube kids videos with the significant t value is
6,254.
