Giving Video Assignment as a Media in TEYL Subject at the Fifth Semester Students’ of TBI IAIN Madura 2022- 2023 Academic Year

Video assignment is students’ project given by teacher or lecturer to fulfill
assignment, it can be in the form of groups or individuals. This video assignment is
given in the TEYL subject at the fifth semester students', the lecturer asked her
students to make video assignment on teaching practice to young learners dealing
with the several methods that was discussed in class at the previous meeting. In this
case, students and lecturers participate in giving this video assignment, so the
researcher interested to knowing about how video assignment is given in the TEYL
subject.
The researcher used a qualitative approach with descriptive research. The
researcher obtained the data from observation, interview and documentation. The
lecturer of TEYL subject and the fifth semester students’ of TBI IAIN Madura
become the primary source, while their statement about giving video assignment is
secondary source of this research.
The result of the observation, interview, and documentation that was
conducted shows that lecturer and most of fifth semester students have advantages
from giving video assignments such as it can improve their ability to teach English
to young learners, so students have teaching experience when you want to become
a teacher in the future, can practice the theory to the real situations, and can
understanding the character of each child. It means that it will make it easier for us
to teach young learners. Lecturer giving video assignment as a form of teaching
realization from what has been taught in class. While students using video
assignments in the form of group videos consisting of 4-5 people and use several
methods from what has been taught to teach young learners.
