The Implementation of Questioning Technique in Teaching Reading at the Seventh Grade Students of Smpn 1 Pademawu

The researcher was conducted a research on SMPN 1 Pademawu. It
focused on the questioning technique that implemented by teacher. The researcher
will know more about what student are experiencing, because sometimes students
cannot express what they feel if they are not asked first. This school was choosen
hopefully, this knowledge about questioning strategies, as well as the classroom
observation activity, could help teachers become skillful in using question
effectively and productively. The focus of this research are: 1. How does the
teacher in implement the questioning technique in teaching reading at the seventh
grade students of SMPN 1 Pademawu? 2. What are types of questioning technique
in implemented by the teacher in teaching reading at the seventh grade students
of SMPN 1 Pademawu? 3. What are obstacles in implement the questioning
technique in teaching reading at the seventh grade students of SMPN 1
Pademawu?. The objective of this research are: 1. To describe the teacher in
implement the questioning technique in teaching reading at the seventh grade
students of SMPN 1 Pademawu. 2. To know types of questioning technique in
implemented by the teacher in teaching reading at the seventh grade students of
SMPN 1 Pademawu. 3. To find out obstacles in implement the questioning
technique in teaching reading at the seventh grade students of SMPN 1
Pademawu.
In this research, the researcher used qualitative approach as research
design because the data resulted is in the form of words. The kind of research is
descriptive research because this research attempts to describe and explain the
issue descriptively what are type of questioning technique implemented by the
teacher in teaching reading at the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Pademawu
and students perception toward questioning technique in teaching reading at the
seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Pademawu.
The result of this research showed that the teacher gives some questions to
students to answer. The questions given are still related to the text that was
previously studied, two types of question implemented by the teacher in teaching
learning process for three meeting, and the researcher is only found the
implementation of question in the second meeting, not in the first and the third
meeting. The types of question implemented by teacher are open question and
close question, the obstacle of questioning technique are lack of students
concentration in responding to questions posed by the teacher, the teacher directly
appoints students to answer the question without giving time for discussion, lack
of students confidence in answering question given by the teacher, students do not
understand if the question given by the teacher use English.
