Language Variations in The Movie of Bila: A New Breed of Hero by Ayman Jamal

Variation of language is the foundation of sociolinguistics.
Sociolinguistics is an interdisciplinary science between sociology
and linguistics, two fields of empirical science that have a very close
relationship. Sociolinguistics examines the relationship between
social factors and language variation. Language variations occur in
bilingual or multilingual communities in a certain area so that
language deviations occur in it. In sociolinguistics, the variations of
language also called leg, is a special form of a language or language
group. It is a general term for any distinctive form of language or
linguistic expression. This may include languages, dialects, registers,
styles or other forms of language, as well as standard variations.
The objective of this research are: 1) to know what the
language variations represented in the movie entitled “Bilal: A New
Breed of Hero are 2) the analysis of language variations in the movie
“Bilal: A New Breed of Hero.
The research methodologies of this research are: 1) The
research design of this study is descriptive research by qualitative
approach. 2) The research instruments of this research are
observation, and documentation. 3) The validities of data are
triangulation of sources.
The findings of the research are 1) the events in this movie are
presented through religious, political, economic and real
humanitarian issues, making this film extraordinary and thrilling to
watch. So that they can become good educators in teaching
English.2) the researcher examines the use of various languages and
relates them to the speech components used by the characters in The
theory of language variety used in this study is the theory proposed
by Martin Joos, while the theory for speech events is the theory
proposed by Holmes. 3) There are five language variations found in
the film, namely: Jargon which has 3 data, Argot with 8 data in
dialogue, Register with 5 data found, Slang with also 5 data found,
and Idiom in Sociolinguistics with 4 data in this film.
