The Analysis of Problem Based Learning Implemented in Teaching Reading at the X Grade SMK Nazhatut Thullab Camplong Sampang

Learning is a system consisting of various components that are interconnected with
one another. These components include: objectives, materials, methods, and evaluation. The
four learning components must be considered by the teacher in choosing and determining
what learning models will be used in learning activities.
To achieve success, students need high motivation in learning so that they can lead
students to achieve it. To increase this learning motivation, there are many ways that can be
taken. The application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model is an effort to
increase student motivation.
Based on this, there are three problems that become the main study in this study,
namely: first, How does the teacher use Problem based learning inteaching reading at X
Grade SMK Nazhatut Thullab. Second, What are the problems faced by students in reading
skill using problem based learning in teaching reading at X Grade SMK Nazhatut Thullab.
Third, How to overcome the problem faced by students when implementing Problem Based
Learning in studying Reading at X Grade SMK Nazhatut Thullab.
This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Sources of
data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants were
class X students of Nazhatut Thullab Vocational School, and English teachers. While
checking the validity of the findings is done by extending the presence of researchers,
deepening observations, triangulation and detailed essays.
The results of the study show that first, the application of problem-based learning in
class X at SMK Nazhatut Thullab has not been implemented properly, because the teacher
still has difficulty providing problems that match the learning material and also cannot
provide real problems that occur in the surrounding environment. Second, in the application
of Problem Based Learning learning in class X at SMK Nazhatut Thullab there are many
obstacles faced by students, such as the lack of learning modules, the difficulty of using
cellphones and the internet to find references in completing assignments and solving
problems. Third, from the several obstacles faced by students the teacher tries to maximize
learning and provide everything needed in the teaching and learning process such as
providing additional modules, providing references and links to help the needs of the
teaching and learning process.
