The Analysis of Students’ Difficulties in Reading Comprehension at Seventh Grade in MTs Al Maghfiroh Bangsereh Batumarmar Pamekasan

Reading comprehension skills are to increase the pleasure and
effectiveness of reading, then it is also important to increase knowledge. Strong
reading skills can be helpful in all subjects, especially in English lessons. Then,
reading comprehension is important in language because students can obtain
information, ideas, and knowledge.
In this research, there are two research focuses. First, what are the
students' difficulties in reading comprehension at seventh-grade in MTs Al
Maghfiroh. Second, what the level do students’ have difficulty in reading
comprehension at seventh-grade in MTs Al Maghfiroh. So, this research aims to
determine students' difficulties in reading Comprehension and determine the level
of students' difficulties in reading comprehension at seventh-grade in MTs Al
Maghfiroh.
Researchers used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type.
Researchers also took data from seventh-grade students at MTs Al Maghfiroh
Bangsereh Batumarmar Pamekasan as data sources. In collecting data, researchers
used semi-structured interviews and documentation.
The results of this research show that researchers found several things that
caused students difficulties in reading comprehension. In this research, there are
five difficulties. That is; First, Determining the Main Idea, that students are
confused in determining the main idea. Second, Locating Reference, students have
difficulty when they want to answer questions. Third, in Understanding
Vocabulary, students have difficulty, because students do not master much
vocabulary. Fourth, Making Inference, makes students have difficulty in
concluding from what they read because the students are confused. fifth, Detailed
Information. that, students find it difficult to find out detailed information because
the text is in English. Besides, it show that there are three levels of student
difficulty in reading comprehension, namely the literal level, inferential level, and
critical level. Of the 15 reading text questions covering the three levels in it. The
student level scores in the order of literal, inferential and critical are, Saiful
