The Effectiveness of Mind Mapping Technique in Essay Writing Skills at the 3rdSemester of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN Madura

Writing is one of skill that students should be mastered. writing is a
complex activity which involves many skills. It includes deciding what one wants
to write, how best to say it and how to put these ideas onto paper in a way that is
intelligeble to others. Every student has difficulties in writing text espicially
writing essay. The difficulties are when the students have been any ideas in their
brain in writing the text, but sometimes they are confused what to do in the
beginning of writing. They are confused what they want to write first and what
sentences should be written first.
In this research, the researcher has two research objective. The first to
know whether anyeffectiveness of mind mapping technique in essay writing skills
to the third semester students of English Teaching Learning ProgramIAIN Madura
and the second to measure the significant of mind mapping technique in essay
writing skills at the 3rdsemester of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN
Madura. The researcher has alternativehyphoteses which states that there is
effectiveness of mind mapping technique in essay writing skills to the third
semester students of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN Madura.
The research method that used in this research is quantitative approach and
while research design is pre-experimental design, namely one group pre-test posttest design. There are two variables in this research,mind mapping technique are
independent variables as X variable. While writing essay is dependent variable as
Y variable. The population of this research is all of students in the third semester
of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN Madura that consist of four classes;
A class, B class, C class, and D class, because the respondents is too large so the
researcher use Cluster random sampling technique, and the researcher takes D
class as a sample. The instruments that the researcher used are written test.
The result of this research that analyzed from statistical analysis showed
that there is effectiveness of Mind Mapping Technique in Essay Writing Skills at
the 3rdSemester of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN Madura. It
evidenced by comparing the and . While the = 5,840 and = 2,07.
Based on the result, that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative
hyphotesis (Ha) is accepted because (5,840> 2,07)
