The Use of Drilling Technique in Teaching English Vocabulary at Third Grade of Islamic Elementary School (SDI) Pelita Hati Lenteng Sumenep.

Drilling technique is a technique for teaching language through dialogues
wich emphasize on the student’s habit formation by repetition, memorizing
grammatical structure, and tense transformation, using the target language and the
culture whre the language is spoken.
The researcher has two formulation, first what kinds of drilling method in
teaching English vocabulary used by the teacher at third grade of Islamic elementary
school (SDI) Pelita Hati, Lenteng Sumenep. Second how does the teacher implement
the drilling method in teaching English vocabulary at thid grade of Islamic Elementary
school (SDI) pelita Hati, Lenteng umenep.
Meanwhile the purpose of this research are first, to know what kinds of
drilling method used by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary at third grade of
Islamic Elementary school (SDI) Pelita Hati Lenteng Sumenep. Second, to know the
implementation of drilling method used by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary
at thid grade of Islamic elementary school (SDI) Pelita Hati Lenteng Sumenep.
This study is a qualitative study using descriptive method of analysis. The
researcher uses the technique of interview and observation in obtaining data from the
teacher and the student. To interview the researcher also uses documentary images of
interview made online via whatsApp application and observation in field. And
researcher analysis the data through three concurrent there are: Data condensation, data
display, and the last is drawing and verifying conclusion. While, to check the data
validity researcher use triangulation, and member checking.
The result of this study show the kinds of drilling method that have been
used by the teacher at third grade of Islamic elementary school (SDI) Pelita Hati
Lenteng Sumenep, there are: repetition drill, question and answer drill, transformation
drill, and backward build up. And for the implementation the teacher use repetititon
drill when give new vocabulary to make student know how to pronounce correctly. He
use question and answer drill to know the student get the point or no. he use
transformation drill when give materi simple present tense. And the last he use
expansion drill when he give the student a long sentence and the student trouble with
the sentence. Hopefully this research can be usefull to add a knowledge for the teacher
and the student.
