The Error Analysis of English Articles Used On Students’ Narrative Texts Writing of Eleventh Grade Students’ at State Senior High School 2 Pamekasan

English article is a part of English grammar. Also, it is difficult enough for
even the most advanced learners who have perfectly learned. They have not well in
comprehension to differentiate the use of article. The article itself is consisting of
definite and indefinite article. The aims of this study were to know what type of
errors made by eleventh grade students at state senior high school 2 Pamekasan.
There are two research focus in this study. The first one is what are the types of
English article errors made by Eleventh Grade Students at State Senior High School 2
Pamekasan in Narrative Texts. And the second is what is the factor of errors made by
Eleventh Grade Students at State Senior High School 2 Pamekasan.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative as an approach of this research.
The researcher uses three instrument in collecting data; observation, documentation,
and interview. For analyzing the data, the researcher uses data condensation, data
display, and verifying conclusion. Then the researcher uses triangulation of data
source is checking the validity of data.
The result of this research that found by the researcher are; the first, The error
collected identified and classified based on three type of errors. Namely; Addition,
Substitution, and Omission. The source of the data consist of 10 papers from 30
papers which is the result of daily test of writing by eleventh grade students in state
senior high school 2 Pamekasan. The second is the findings showed that the factor of
errors made by students are two factors. From the data, Based on learning outcomes,
class XI MIPA 1 at State Senior..High School 2 Pamekasan has the cause of writing
errors, namely Interlingual transfer, and Context of learning. In this research the
causes of errors have two perspectives, from the students and the teacher.
Based on the result above, from the finding above the writer suggest, the
students study more about articles to improve their ability in using articles and
discuss their difficulties with the teacher to get clearer explanation
