Students' Perception on the TOEFL Assignment in Using Canva Application at Sixth Semester of TBI IAIN Madura

Canva application is an application that provide some features which allows
the user to make some interesting designs. This application is used in TOEFL class
at sixth semester of TBI IAIN Madura, the lecturer asked her students to make an
infographic dealing with the material that was discussed in the class by using Canva
application. In this case, the students become the users of this application, therefore
the researcher interested to knowing about how the students perceive on the TOEFL
assignment in using Canva application and how they used it.
The researcher used a qualitative approach with descriptive research. The
researcher obtained the data from interview, observation, questionnaire, and
documentation. The sixth semester students of TBI IAIN Madura who joining the
TOEFL class become the primary source, while their assignment result, especially
their infographic is secondary source of this research.
The result of the interview, observation, questionnaire, and the
documentation that was conducted shows that most of sixth semester students have
positive form of perception that can cause by some factors, such as factors that exist
in the perceiver; attitudes, personality, motives, interests, past experiences, and
expectation, factors that exist in the target; novelty, size, background, proximity,
and similarity and factors that exist in the situation; time, work setting, and social
setting. The students use Canva application as media assignment in TOEFL class
by made their assignment using this application and most of them use free template
in infographic design feature, which is suitable with their TOEFL assignment.
