The Teacher Challenges in Teaching English to Young Learners at PAUD Al Mujtahidin Blumbungan Larangan Pamekasan

Young learners covers a large chronological age range, from about three years
to fifteen years. There are two kinds of focus in this research. The first, the teacher
challanges in teaching English to young learners at PAUD Al Mujtahidin
Blumbungan Larangan Pamekasan. The second how do the teacher effort to
overcome the challenges in teaching English to young learners at PAUD Al
Mujtahidin Blumbungan Larangan Pamekasan. It aims to identify the teacher
challenges in teaching English to young learners and to know the teacher overcomes
the challenges in teaching English to young learners at PAUD Al Mujtahidin
Blumbungan Larangan Pamekasan.
The researcher used qualitative approach with descriptive as a kind of
research. The researcher collected the data from interview, observation and
documentation. To analyze the data, the researcher used data reduction, data display
and verification. Then the researcher used triangulation of technique and source for
checking a credibility of the data.
The results of this study is there are many challenges faced by the teacher in
teaching English to young learners at PAUD Al Mujtahidin Blumbungan Larangan
Pamekasan namely; lack of school support, Lack of understanding the nature of
teaching English to young learners, the different characteristics of the students, lack
of students’ attention, students’ motivation and interest, classroom management,
and also native language interference.
Based on the result of the challenges in teaching English to young learners at
PAUD Al Mujtahidin Blumbungan Larangan Pamekasan, the teacher efforts to
overcome the challenges in teaching English by; making a simple media, trying to
provide the basic material, combining media that can cover students learning styles,
using hello-hi and clapping to get the students’ attention, using songs as media,
anticipating problem, and familiarizing the students in listening English.
