The Effectivennes of Watching Toy Story 1 Movie to Students Vocabulary Mastery at Tenth Grade of SMA Al-Fath Modung Bangkalan 2022/2023 Academic Year

Movie as audio-visual media help students to increase vocabulary they are
limited. Regarding vocabulary learning, the subtitles movie plays important role in
improving students with new vocabulary. Chorus and pictures really motivate
students to achieve the goals of the learning process. In addition, watching subtitled
movies can increase in students to learn new vocabulary they had never hard before.
Movie has a very significant role to motivate the students to learn vocabulary and
to make the atmosphere of teaching and learning interesting. The researcher apply
a strategy watching movie to increase students vocabulary mastery because they
have lack vocabulary and they are lose their interest in learning foreign language.
This study aimed to find out whether students of tenth grade SMA Al-Fath
would have better vocabulary mastery after the implementation of watching Toy
Story 1 movie of tenth grade SMA Al-Fath Modung Bangkalan and how
significance the effect of watching Toy Story 1 movie to students vocabulary
mastery at tenth grade SMA Al-Fath Modung Bangkalan. This research used
quantitative approach, that was Pre-Experimental research One group Pre-test Posttest. This research was conducted only one group without control group. One group
was selected, giving pre-test then provide treatment and then giving post-test to the
students tenth grade of SMA Al-Fath. The population of this research is only
students tenth grade of SMA Al-Fath Modung Bangkalan with consist 20 students.
As for sample of this research was take all population because the respondent are
less then 100 that was taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The
instrument used in collecting data in this study was a test. Determining t test was
used to analyze the data in which the signnificance was determined by 0.05%.
The result of this study showed that students of tenth grade of SMA Al-Fath
have better vocabulary mastery after the implementation of watching Toy Story 1
movie. It can be seen from the result of mean pre-test was 52,25 and mean of posttest was 75,50. From pre-test to post-test, there was an increase of vocabulary
mastery by 23,25. While t test result obtained t value of 7,229 which was higher
than t table is 2,09 with a significance level of 5% (0,05). So from the results of âtâ
test (t value : 7,229 > t table 2,09). It can be concluded that watching Toy Story 1
movie effected to vocabulary mastery at 10th grade of SMA Al-Fath Modung
Bangkalan with 722,9%.
