Exploring Educotourism through Eco-literacy in English Learning Materials

Nowadays, many external factors affect the education system on the macro,
including ideology, economy, politics, socio-culture, and natural environment.
These factors affect each other in the educational system, including the interaction
with the social and natural environment in the broader ecosystem. This condition
has always been a challenge for schools as an educational base in Indonesia to
prepare and produce people who care about environmental damage or pollution. In
educational field, ecoliteracy should become the main focus of the curriculum to
face severe challenges of environmental problems in the future. The students’
ecological intelligence can be grown through understanding the environment and
how to be environmentally friendly. The researcher tried to investigate the ecoliteracy through English learning materials in the term of educotourism.
There are two research focuses in this research study. First, how does the
English teacher implement the educotourism through eco-literacy in English
learning materials in MTs Sumber Bungur Pakong. Second, what are the advantages
and disadvantages of the implementation in the educotourism through eco-literacy
in English learning materials in Sumber Bungur Pakong.
This research applied qualitative research method. The data showed in
descriptive method because it needed to describe the eco-literacy in English
learning materials in MTs Sumber Bungur Pakong in the term of educotourism. The
subject of this study is the English teacher and the students of MTs Sumber Bungur
Pakong. Meanwhile, the data was collected from observations, interviews, and also
documentations in MTs Sumber Bungur Pakong.
The results of research showed the implementation of educotourism trough
eco-literacy in English earning materials in MTs Sumber Bungur Pakong by
observing the school policy, the school’s documentation in the syllabus design, and
the teacher’s implementation in the classroom. Besides, the researcher also found
the advantages and disadvantages in the implementation of educotourism through
eco-literacy in English learning materials in MTs Sumber Bungur Pakong by asking
to the English teacher and the students of MTs Sumber Bungur Pakong
