Contrastive Analysis Between English and Indonesian Simple Past Tense

Analyze the differences, discuss the analysis of the differences, and then
relate to a ratio of two or more things. As is the case in this study where
researchers hold up the object of comparative research or analysis of the
difference between two languages: English and Indonesian in the use of previous
sentences. There are three focus studies in this research, the first is what are
simple past tense patterns on Robert Frost poetry? The second what are simple
past tense patterns on Chairil Anwar poetry? And the latter is what are differences
and similarities of simple past tense patterns in English and Indonesian? Thus, in
this study researchers cite either the formula and the use of sentences or the
foregoing information in English and Indonesian poetry and identify the
differences and similarities. The aim of this research is to know what are the
simple past pettern in English and Indonesian poetry and the similarities and
differences.
The researcher used qualitative approach with object analysis as the kind
of research. The primary source used English poetry by Robert Frost and
Indonesian poetry by Chairil Anwar poetry to obtain the data. While the
secondary sources were, articles, and e-books, those are related to this research to
complete the primary data. In collecting the data, the researcher implemented
documentation, Analyze and note the data. Researcher analyze past differences in
usage and formulas in English poetry by Robert Frost and Indonesian poetry by
Chairil Anwar, and conclude the discussion after analyzing past sentences in
English and Indonesian poetry with similarities and differences.
The result of data analysis suggests that the use of simple past in both
English and Indonesian poetry has significant difference, in English the use of
past tense pattern in poetry must be used, if the poetry that is written because the
moral messages or time that used inside is past or event that finish in the past .
whereas in Indonesian it may use past sentences in the poetry because, no rule of
the law obligate when the preceding words is used in the type of poetry. Here, the
researcher has found differences and similarities the first one is the poetry in
English is conditional, the poetry must use past tense pattern when the time is
past, and use future tense if the poetry is special for the future, it means that there
is rule of use of patterns in English poetry and in Indonesian poetry has no rule
and the similarities of English and Indonesian is between English and Indonesian
also use the adverb of time of past time. Reading and analyze poetry is the best
thing to improve and add the knowledge in life.
