The Use of Mind mapping Model in Writing Descriptive text at 10th grade of SMAN 1 Galis Pamekasan

Descriptive text is one of the materials in learning English, descriptive text
containing the description of a particular object place or even so that in be felt,
seen, read, and heard. SMAN 1 Galis is a school located in Konang Galis
Pamekasan where this school applies a mind map (concept map) this is because
the use of this mind mapping model in its activities is oriented towards student
activity,
There are two problem formulations in this study, namely: First, how is the
application of the mind mapping model in learning to write descriptive texts in the
10th grade of SMAN 1 Galis Pamekasan?. Second, what are the strengths and
weaknesses of teachers in applying the mind mapping model in learning to write
descriptive texts in the 10th grade of SMAN 1 Galis Pamekasan?
In this study, the researcher used qualitative research because the
researcher wanted to explain descriptively about the application of the descriptive
text learning process in learning writing skills of 10th grade of SMAN 1 Galis
Pamekasan. In collecting data the researchers used three procedures. The first is
observation, where the researcher observes the process of implementing
individual presentations in teaching students' writing skills. Second, interviews
with English teachers and 10th grade of SMAN 1 Galis Pamekasan. The third is
documentation, the researcher uses photos of the teaching and learning process
and student presentations.
The data analysis carried out by the researcher is data reduction, data
presentation and conclusion drawing/verification. Then, the researcher used
triangulation technique because the researcher used observation, interviews, and
documentation to check the validity of the data. The results of the study on the
application of individual presentations in learning writing skills of 10th grade of
SMAN 1 Galis Pamekasan, the teacher used three steps; pre-teaching, while
teaching and post-teaching.
Based on the research above, the researcher gives advice to the 10th grade
teachers and students of SMAN 1 Galis Pamekasan in the implementation of the
learning process, the teacher must really pay attention to student presentations and
teach what is wrong in student presentations to make it better. And for students,
they must prepare themselves before presentations and have the enthusiasm to
study presentations to improve their writing skills.
