Student’s Perceptions on the Use of English Songs in Learning Speaking English at Excellent Eight Grade Students of MTS Miftahul Qulub Polagan Pamekasan

Most students of MTS Miftahul Qulub Polagan, have difficulty in learning
speaking English, they have difficulties such as wrong pronunciation, lack of
vocabulary, feels boring in learning, etc. The teacher needs to make teaching and
learning activities more effective, one of that is by using English songs in the teaching
and learning process.
In this research has research objective that to describe student’s perceptions on
the use of English songs in learning speaking English at excellent eight grade students
of MTS Miftahul Qulub Polagan Pamekasan.
This research employs a qualitative approach and descriptive data as a research
design. This research was conducted in MTS Miftahul Qulub Polagan Pamekasan. The
participants of this research were from the students especially the participants are 20
students in excellent eight grade students . Furthermore, the data were collected from
interviews as the main source in this research and documentation.
The result of this research, show that the students have positive perceptions
related to the advantages of using English songs in learning speaking such as English
songs could felling happy in learning, easier to understand, increase the vocabulary,
and repair the pronunciation. And students have negative perceptions too such as lack
of vocabulary, afraid being wrong in pronunciation, feel shy and don’t like English
songs.
Based on above, the student’s perceptions on the use of English songs in
learning speaking English at excellent eight grade students of MTS Miftahul Qulub
Polagan Pamekasan is very helpful for the teacher and the students in teaching learning
process
