teacher gives an example of a recount text in the form of a story, then asks students
to read it. After that, the teacher and students together analyze everything related to
the procedures for writing recount texts, such as generic structure, social function,
and grammatical language in the recount text.

recount text to class VIII students of SMP Nurul Haramain Kasengan Sumenep.
Second, how are students' responses to the implementation of the reading-writing
connection strategy in learning recount texts for class VIII students of SMP Nurul
Haramain Kasengan Sumenep.
Researcher used a qualitative approach with the kind of research is
descriptive. Researcher collected data from observations, documentation, and
interviews which were then checked and analyzed the results of using the Readingwriting connection strategy in teaching recount texts using qualitative analysis
procedures.
The results of this study, the application of the reading-writing connection
strategy is the right strategy used by the teacher and is easily understood by students
in learning recount text. In this strategy the teacher is able to apply the readingwriting connection strategy by how to tell and write a text of past experiences using
correct grammar and rules. So that this strategy can stimulate students' ideas and
thinking which will later lead to good ideas for writing a recount text based on their
own experiences. With the implementation of this reading-writing connection, the
students' own responses vary, including specific responses, choral responses, laugh
responses, and confusion responses.
Suggestions for teachers in teaching recount texts need to choose the right
strategy. The reading-writing connection strategy is the right choice that can help
students overcome the problems they are experiencing. Because this type of recount
text is one type of text that must be mastered based on the Education Unit Level
