The Effect of Using Ward Wall Media on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at The 7th Grade Students in MTs Miftahul-Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan

Vocabulary mastery is the great skill in using word and how much word
they master. By mastering vocabulary, it will make easier the students to apply the
vocabulary itself by speaking, listening, reading, and also writing. Because, many
teachers teach vocabulary based on handbook without using other media.
Indirectly, it makes the students bored and also lazy to learn the new word. In fact,
many students are failed in learning English because their vocabulary is lack.
Based on phenomena, the researcher interested to conduct research of students in
the 7D class of MTs Miftahul-Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan.
Based on the case above, it can be appointed two research problemsof this
study in which they are: Is there any effect of using word wall media in teaching
vocabulary and how significant the using of word wall media on students’
vocabulary mastery at the 7th grade students in MTs Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis
Pamekasan. The purpose of this research know the effect of using word wall
media on students’ vocabulary mastery and how significant the using of word wall
media on students’ vocabulary mastery at the 7th grade students in MTs Miftahul
Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan. The researcher uses quantitative approach. This
research usepre-experimental research design, namely one-group pretest-posttest
design. This research instrument use test (pre-test, treatment, and post-test) and
documentation. Data source of this research are the 7D students at MTs MiftahulQulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan.
The result of this research are: 1.) The mean result of pre-test is 69,59
while the mean of post-test is 85, the difference both of tests is 15,41points. It can
be concluded that the students who are taught vocabulary by word wall media
have better achievement than those who are not taught by using word wall media
at the 7thgrade students in MTs Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan. 2.) The
statistical analysis using SPSS v.20 shows that the significance of 2 tailed is 0.000
< 0.05. It means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted that infers there is effectof
using word wall media on students’ vocabulary at the 7th grade students in MTs
Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan. Based on the result of this research,
researcher recommends to the teacher to using word wall media in improve
vocabulary mastery is an alternative way for English teacher, especially for junior
high school to attract the students’ interest and motivation in learning English.
And for students, The students should be more aware about how importance the
vocabulary is.
