he Effect of Video as Media on the Students’ Listening Skill at Second Semester of English Department IAIN Madura in academic year 2020/2021

Media in teaching learning process that used by the teacher are
different. Every teacher choose a different media to help them easier
to teach the student than it make the student easier to understand the
material. The media that used in this research is video. The aim of this
research to know any difference at second semester students listening
skill that use video and those are who do not use video as media and
to measure how significant the effect of video as media on the
students’ listening skill at second semester of English Department in
IAIN Madura in academic year 2020/2021.
This research is quantitative research. A quasi-experimental
research was used as the design of this research. The population of this
research was Second Semester of English Department IAIN Madura in
academic year 2020/2021. The researcher used the random sampling
as the sampling technique in this research and chose 28 students of A
Class and 27 students of B Class as the sample of this research. B
Class as the experimental class, while A Class as the control class.
The instrument of this research was used Pre-test and Post test. T-test
was used in order to analyze the data collected in this research. It was
used to know the significance level of the result.
The data from the Pre-test showed that both classes had a
slight difference in the mean score, where experimental class got
71.85 and the control class got 68.57. However, the Post test score
showed that the experimental class got a higher mean score 84.07 than
the control class 74.29.
The result it proved that the null hypothesis was rejected
whether the alternative hypothesis was accepted because the p-value =
0.014 has a lower score than sig = α = 0.05 (5%). It clearly proves that
using video as media had an effect on students listening skill at
Second Semester of English Department Iain Madura in academic
year 2020/2021.
From the result of this research that showed that the used of
media in teaching learning process give an effect on students’ skill.
On this basis, This research suggest that the use of media in education
should be used more frequently to make the teaching and learning
process smoothness
