The Implementation Of The Talking Stick Method In Teaching Speaking English For The 8th Grade’s Of SMPN 1 Larangan Pamekasan

In Indonesia, English has become one of the mandatory materials in learning
from junior high school to university levels. In which learning there are four main
aspects, namely listening, reading, speaking and writing. Based on this aspect
speaking is the main aspect in mastering the foreign language being studied.
Speaking a foreign language for people who have minimal background knowledge
of the language will have its own level of difficulty. Especially for students who
rarely use the habit of speaking foreign languages.
This thesis describes how to implement the talking stick method in learning
speakingenglishat the 8
thgrade’s of SMPN 1 Larangan Pamekasan. Therefore,
there are three reasearh problemsin the research. The first is the implentation of
the talking stick method in learning speakingenglishat the 8
thgrade’s of SMPN 1
Larangan Pamekasan. The second is the weaknesses of the implementation of the
talking stick method in learning speakingenglishat the 8
thgrade’s of SMPN 1
Larangan Pamekasan. And the last one is the advantages of implementing the
talking stick method in learning speakingenglishat the 8
thgrade’s of SMPN 1
Larangan Pamekasan.
The purpose of this study was to determine the implement of the talking stick
method in learning speaking english at the 8th grade’s of SMPN 1
LaranganPamekasan. The second is to determine the weaknesses of the
implementation of the talking stick method in learning speaking english at the 8th
grade’s of SMPN 1 LaranganPamekasan. And the last one is to find out the
advantages of implementing the talking stick method in learning speaking english
at the 8th grade’s of SMPN 1LaranganPamekasan.
In this study, researchers used a qualitative approach with qualitative
descriptive research. The data were obtained by observing the students when the
researcher implemented the talking stick method. Then, the researcher interviewed
several students and teacher to find out the weaknesses and strengths of
implementing the talking stick method. Researcher also took documentation to
legitimize this research data.
The results of this study indicate that the application of the talking stick
method is said to be successful in the classroom. In addition, the results of this
study were also that students were faster in capturing the material presented by the teacher and were also more courageous to speak in front of the class. However,
the use of music and speakers disturbed some students in capturing the material
