he Effect of HURIER Model on Students Listening Skill at The Third Students of IAIN Madura.

Listening is one of the skill in English which is also very important in learning
that must be developed. Listening is an ability to hear what is heard like what someone
says by understanding it. While the learning model in teaching and learning is very
influential in the learning process to make it easier for students to achieve an ability in
learning. HURIER model is one of learning model in listening learning. HURIER
model is abbreviation which was created by a Judy Brownell which has six processes,
there are Hearing, Understanding, Remembering, Interpreting, Evaluating, and
Responding.
There are two research problem of study in this research; is there the effect of
HURIER model on students listening skill at the third students of IAIN Madura? And
How significances the effect of HURIER model on students listening skill at the third
students of IAIN Madura?
There are two research objectives of study in this research, the first to find out
there is the effect or not of HURIER model on students listening skill at the third
students of IAIN Madura and the second to know how significances the effect HURIER
model on students listening skill at the third students of IAIN Madura.
The research method that used in this research is quantitative approach and
while research design that be used is experimental design. In this research, there two
variables that be used that is HURIER model in teaching listening as X variable and the
third students of IAIN Madura as Y variable. The population of this research is the third
students listening of IAIN Madura, because the respondents is too large so the
researcher use cluster sampling technique, and the researcher take A and B classes
because this class is ready to participate. The instruments that the researcher used are
pre-test and post-test to HURIER model achievement, and documentations to the third
students listening of IAIN Madura.
The result of this research that analyse from statistical analysis showed that
there is effect of HURIER model on students listening skill at the third students of IAIN
Madura. It evidenced by comparing the tvalue and ttable. While the tvalue= 7,779 and ttable
= 0,288. Based on the result, the significant of the HURIER model in listening learning
is enough. So that, the null hypotheses is rejected and the alternative hypotheses is
accepted.
Based on the result above, the researchers’ suggestion for the lecturer and the
students that the learning model is very important in the teaching and learning process.
So, in using good learning model will be develop students listening skill and to make
students listening skills better.
