The Implementation of Kumon Method in Teaching Simple Past Tense at the Eighth Grade of MTSN 3 Sumber Bungur Pamekasan

This thesis describes the implementation of Kumon method in
teaching simple past tense at the eighth grade of MTSN 3 Sumber Bungur
Pamekasan.
In this research, there are three research focuses. They are how does
the teacher implement kumon method in teaching simple past tense, what
are the advantages of kumon method, and what are the disadvantages of
kumon method in teaching simple past tense at the eighth grade of MTSN
3 Sumber Bungur Pamekasan.
This research was qualitative design and used descriptive analysis.
The location of this research was at MTSN 3 Sumber Bungur Pamekasan.
The researcher had two limitations, they were the teacher and the students
at the eighth grade of MTSN 3 Sumber Bungur Pamekasan. Three
instruments that were used were interview, observation and
documentation. Beside that, the researcher used three techniques to
analyze the data, they were data reduction, data display and conclussion or
verification drawing.
The research findings of the implementation kumon method in
teaching simple past tense at the eighth grade of MTSN 3 Sumber Bungur
Pamekasan was success. Based on the result of observation and interview
to the teacher and some students at the eighth grade of MTSN 3 Sumber
Bungur Pamekasan, the teacher said that by using kumon she can measure
students’ understanding about the material because the lesson is arranged
by small steps. This method also made the students understand deeply the
material so that it improves their knowledge. It also makes the students
more discipline.
Based on the research findings above, this research is suggested for
the teacher who is expected to be able to prepare the material well and
understand students’ ability. For the students, they should pay attention in
teacher’s explanation. They also must be motivated to learn English. The
last suggestion is for other researchers to do the same research but in
different aspect.
