Students’ Response Toward English E-learning During Covid-19 Pandemic at The Tenth Graders of MAN Sampang 2021.

Learning is one of the way or effort made by a person or individual to gain
knowledge both in terms of quantity and quality, as well as an increase in
knowledge, skills, attitudes, habits, thinking power, and other abilities. The learning
process consist of educator and student. In general, the teaching and learning
process is carried out face-to-face in the class. However, at the beginning of 2020
the learning activities is no longer carried out face-to-face in the class. This is due
the spread of Covid-19 virus in Indonesia.
The spread of the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia has forced throughout
Indonesia to stop the face-to-face learning. Therefore, the teaching learning process
is carried out by learning in the network (online learning). This is done to break the
chain of spread of the Covid-19 virus. The policy is based on the Circular Letter of
the ministry of Education No. 4 of 2020 concerning the implementation of
education policies in the emergency period of the spread of Covid-19. The online
learning process is a new thing for students in Indonesia. So that, this study was
conducted to determine students’ response toward English e-learning during Covid19 pandemic at the tenth graders of MAN Sampang.
Based on the explanation above, there were two research focuses of this
study. The first is what are the students’ response toward English e-learning during
Covid-19 pandemic at the tenth graders of MAN Sampang. And the second is what
are the advantages and disadvantages of English e-learning during Covid-19
pandemic at the tenth graders of MAN Sampang.
In this research, the researcher used a qualitative approach. Source of the
data obtained by the researcher were in the form of interviews, observation and
documentation with the English students at tenth graders of MAN Sampang. While
checking its validity through triangulation of technique and time.
The result of the research that have been conducted shows that: the first,
the students’ response toward English e-learning during Covid-19 pandemic at the
tenth graders of MAN Sampang aimed to the negative response. The second, there
are the advantages and disadvantages of English e-learning during Covid-19
pandemic. The advantages are flexible. While the disadvantages are the lack of
interaction between the teacher and students. The students have to difficulty to
understand the subject matter, and when the internet networking is not good it is
very disturbing the students to take the classes.
