THE USE OF THINK PAIR SHARE TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL OF ZEMA ENGLISH STUDY CENTER

Speaking always becomes one of skill that is very interesting because as
language students they must master speak English. Speaking is a way to make the
students prove their ability in communication such as express opinions, ideas, and
other. There are many teahniques that can be used by the English teacher to help
the students to express the ideas easily, the English teacher uses a teachnique
when they teach their students to stimulate the students when the teacher deliver
the material and one of the techniques that is used by the teacher is Think Pair
Share (TPS) technique. Think pair share (TPS) technique is a very simple and
effective technique to increase the quantity and quality of discussion participation.
Based on the explanation above, the researcher has purpose to describe the
use of Think Pair Share (TPS) technique on students’ speaking skill and to know
the students responses in using Think Pair Share (TPS) technique on students’
speaking skill of ZEMA English Study Center at Pamekasan.
This research use qualitative approach, while the kind of research with the
researcher used is descriptive qualitative. The researcher is the key instrument to
collect the data by takes a position to be non – participant observation. In
collecting the data, the researcher uses three techniques. They are non participant
observation, semi structured interview, and documentation. Then it will be
analyzed by data condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying
conclusion. To validate the data, the researcher use triangulation data source and
techniques.
The result of the research showed that the English teacher is well prepared
in using think pair share technique by implement the steps of think pair share to
teach their students in speaking where they can state their ideas.
In using Think Pair Share (TPS), the students give some responses are by
using think pair share technique make the students are active, they are excited in
the class, and increasing the students communication.
Based on the result of research above, suggestion for the teacher should
give good instruction in order to make the students understand what they should
do and for the students, show your speaking skill in the class in order to make
your speaking skill well
