STUDENTS' LEARNING STYLES WITH HIGH EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF SPEAKING SKILLS AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE SCIENCE 2 STUDENTS OF SMAN 3V PAMEKASAN

In the learning process, each student has their way of understanding and
absorbing the information they get. This way is a learning style. Learning style is
the preferred way by students in learning to understand information. Students
must be able to know and determine the learning style according to their character
and emotions. Emotion is meant here is how these students can control and
regulate their emotions while studying, especially in their speaking skills. Not
only students but a teacher also needs to know how each student's learning style
based on their emotional intelligence on speaking English so that the teacher can
adjust the learning strategy according to the learning style of each student.
The focus of research in this study is what types of learning styles are used
by students with high emotional intelligence on their speaking skills and how
these learning styles can encourage their speaking skills. The purpose of this study
is to know the types of learning styles used by students with high emotional
intelligence and to describe how these learning styles can encourage their English
speaking skills.
This research was conducted to know the types of learning styles
commonly used by students with high emotional intelligence and to describe how
these learning styles can encourage their speaking skills. This study used a
descriptive qualitative research design. In this study, the resercher used three
techniques to obtain data, namely observation, interview, and documentation
techniques. Meanwhile, the subjects in this study were teachers and students with
high emotional intelligence at the eleventh-grade science 2 of SMAN 3
Pamekasan.
The result of this study showed that: first, Learning styles used by students
with high emotional intelligence tend to use mixed learning styles with other
learning styles. Such as a combination of visual and auditory learning
styles. Second, the learning styles used by these students can encourage their
English speaking skills, such as adding vocabulary, knowing the correct
pronunciation of words, and learning grammar.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for the students that must be able
to know and determine the type of learning style that suits their character so that it
is easier to absorb the learning material, especially in their speaking skill. It is also
suggested for teachers to adapt their teaching styles to the learning styles of each
student.
