ANALYSIS OF SLANG IN TITANIC FILM 1997 BY JAMES CAMERON BASED ON RONALD WARDHAUGH PERSEPECTIVE

Slang is non-standard use of words in a language and sometimes the
creation of new words or importation of words from other languages. Then
slang generally implies playful, informal speech. In the titanic film there are
slang words found, namely the word bullshit in some duration and the word
jerk.
In this study there are two research focuses (1) What are slang used in
Titanic film 1997 by James Cameron based on Ronald Wardhaugh
perspective (2) how the slang used in Titanic film 1997 by James Cameron
based on Ronald Wardhaugh perspective.
This study uses qualitative research. The data source is the Titanic
film. To collect data, researchers use the collection of the form of dialogue
(transcript). Observation in slang in the film. The researchers search for,
collect and read data containing slang Then researchers present or analyze of
slang based on Ronald Wardhaugh perspective.
The results of the data analysis show slang in Titanic and slang in
Titanic from Ronald Wardhaugh's perspective. Researchers found two (2)
kind of slang in Ronald Wardhaugh's perspective in different categories
namely: the word bullshit in (duration,00:03:20), (duration, 00:04:10),
(duration, 01:34:53), (duration, 01:45:34), (duration, 02:08:27) dan the word
jerk in (duration, 00:26:48), (duration, 01:41:39). Those are the findings of
this research.
