THE EFFECT OG ENGLISH SONG ON YOUNG LEARNERS VOCABULARY MASTERY OF FIFTH GRADE AT SDN PAKONG 2 PAMEKASAN

Vocabulary is a list or set of words for a particular language or a list or set of words that every speaker of the language may use. This means that vocabulary is a list of words and a collection of words in a language known and used by each speaker. Young learners’ are children aged between 5-7 and 8-10 years. Meanwhile, English songs are one of the learning media used by teachers at SDN Pakong 2 Pamekasan.
There are 2 research focuses in this research. The first is to determine the effect of English songs on vocabulary mastery of 5th grade students at SDN Pakong 2 Pamekasan, the second is to determine the extent of the influence of English songs on vocabulary mastery of fifth grade students at SDN Pakong 2 Pamekasan.
Researchers conducted this research to get conclusions from the research focus that has been mentioned above. Researchers use a quantitative approach, researchers by calculating each number of findings from the research process. Therefore, in this study, researchers used a questionnaire, test, and documentation method.
The results showed that the use of English songs had a positive effect on students' vocabulary mastery, sharpened students' vocabulary memories, increased students' enthusiasm for learning vocabulary, and made it easier for students to re-practice the vocabulary that had been learned..
Based on the research results above, it is suggested for grade 5 teachers of SDN Pakong 2 Pamekasan that English songs can be used as a learning medium to improve students' mastery of English vocabulary.
