THE GRAMMATICAL ERROR OF SIMPLE PAST TENTE IN WRITING RECOUNNT TEXT AT FEC PROGRAM

English learners must study about the rule of grammar, because the students
should understand how to produce good sentences and they also should learn all
aspects about tenses, especially the knowledge and the use of simple past tense.
Furthermore, the students still make some errors in their writing related to tenses.
In this study, there are two research focuses proposed by the researcher: (1)
What kind of grammatical errors used by the students in writing recount text at FEC
Program? And (2) how do the students solve the grammatical error in writing
recount text at FEC Program? The researcher intended to identify the common types
of grammatical error in the students' writing especially in writing recount text.
In this study, the researcher used qualitative research. The participants were
the members of FEC Program. The data were gathered from the interview, students'
writing, and observation. The results of this study showed that there were some
errors and kinds of error in the students writing; they were omission, addition, and
misinformation. The researcher also found out that some errors written by the
students were found in regular past and irregular verb .
The result of this research showed many students’ error on writing recount
text have written by them, most of them frequently made error in omission, addition,
and misformation . Students need to solve it by remembering again the rule of
grammar especially in the pattern of simple past tense.
Based on the explanation above. It refers to the tutor/teacher that they do
not only give knowledge, but also educators that can guide the students and know
the ability of students to prepare in a bright future. It is because a good score is not
always about students’ intelligent.
