IMPROVING STUDENTS WRITING IN PROCEDUR TEXT BY USING VIDEO AT NINTH GRADE OF MTS. AN-NAJAH KERTAGENA TENGAH

Writing is an activity to combine words to form meaningful messages that the writer wants to express. As a part of English skills, writing should be mastered by its learners because not every message is delivered orally. Moreover written message sometimes gives more emphasis for those targeted object. This kind of skills is really crucial matter for language learners based on taught subject. Therefore, it could be used for any particular material.
To support students’ writing skill, the use of video is possible by supported hardware and software. Video, which is as tool of communication and powerful vehicle of information that packed with messages, images, and present a rich content in learning classroom, can facilitate to understand more about taught material, in this case procedure text where they can follow instructions of showed video.
This study uses classroom action research (CAR) that consist of two cycles. Each cycle consist of four step, they are planning, action, observation, and reflection. Before the study started,the researcher an also as a teacher is doing pre-research to know the student’s writing in procedure text that theresult 40% passed and 60% failed. It's means that the students’ writing in procedure text at the fifth grade still lack because the researcher have the target of percentage 75%.
In the first cycle the result were 40% passed and 60% failed. It is notreached the target, so the researcher did the second cycle. The results of thesecond cycle were 80% passed and 20% failed. In the second cycle, studentsreached the target and it's successful enough. So, the researcher did not redo thecycle.
Based on the result of research, the average of students' score in cycle 1 was 60,4 and the student’s score in cycle 2 was increase 16,2 point than cycle 1 namely 76,6 point. It was successful enough because the students that get score more than 71 were 12 students and it's suitable withexpectation of researcher that is 75% of students passed the test.
In conclusion, Video can be used toimprove the students’ writing in procedure text at the ninth grade of MTs An-NajahKertagena Tengah. Therefore, it is suggested to the English teachers to implement video as media in teaching and learning process. The English teacher should give more attention toward the student’s writing, because writing became the basicfoundation of the four languages skill. Without writing the students are difficult to mastering English.
