In learning or knowing vocabulary, young learners can get new vocabulary by doing what they loved, for example playing a game while they study, sing a song and telling story. That activity can be an alternative to get any vocabularies that they never get before. Ice Breaking is one of activity that used to solve the students boredom in teaching learning process. What’s in My Back? Game is one of game that can used as Ice Breaking that rely on sensitivity and memory in writing English vocabulary. Vocabulary is one of important thing in English to be mastered for everyone especially for young learners. Young Learners are learners in Elementary School aging 6-12 years old who are learning English as foreign language. Vocabulary mastery itself is the numbers of words students’ knows in using word of language and it is the vocabulary achievement.
The researcher conducted research about the influence of ice breaking what’s in my back? On young learners’ vocabulary mastery. This research focus on the influence of ice breaking activity to young learners’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher present about the influence of ice breaking especially using what’s in my back? Game, when the teacher implement it before or after they explain the materials. Problem of study of this research is do the young learners taught by using ice breaking what’s in my back? Have better vocabulary mastery.
The researcher uses Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) in which hypothesis states that there is an influence of Ice Breaking What’s in My Back? On Young learners’ vocabulary mastery at the fifth grade of SDIT Multazam Buddih Pamekasan.
This research uses quantitative approach to explain the both variables. The researcher uses Experimental research design, namely Pre-Experimental design. This research include to One-Group Pretest-Posttest Designbecause the researcher using pretest and posttest as instruments to know the influence of ice breaking what’s in my back? On young learners’ vocabulary mastery. To analyze the data, the researcher uses “t” test.
The result shows that there is an influence of Ice Breaking What’s in My Back? On Young learners’ vocabulary mastery at the fifth grade of SDIT Multazam Buddih Pamekasan. It is proved by the result of data analysis that the value of t test (2.911) is higher than tt(t table) in 5%significant level (2,23). It means that the alternative hypothesis in this research is accepted. All in all, when the young learners taught by using ice breaking influence their vocabulary mastery.
