THE USE OF PICTURES MEDIA ON DESCRIPTIVE TEXT ON STUDENTS' WRITING SKILL AT THE EIGHTH GRADE IN SMP ISLAM NURUL JADID PANGLEGUR PAMEKASAN

Writing is one of important skills which must be taught to islamic junior
high school. However, many students have difficulties in writing. Students
cannot write well because they have limited knowledge in English, grammar
and vocabulary that make them repeat the same mistakes in constructing a
sentence and cannot express what they have in mind. Therefore, the teacher
should have alternative ways to teach writing. One way to increase their
creativity is inviting the students to active in direct practice. To solve the
students’ problem to share their ideas on written, peer editing strategy is used
to teach them in motivating their writing skill. This research have purpose to
find out the answer from the statement of the problem.
This thesis discusses about the use of pictures media. It describes the
use of pictures media on descriptive text on student’s writing skill at the
eighth grade in SMP Islam Nurul Jadid Panglegur Pamekasan. In this case the
researcher has three research problems, the first is how the teacher uses
pictures media on descriptive text on student’s writing skill at the Eighth
Grade in SMP Islam Nurul Jadid Panglegur Pamekasan. And the second,
What the advantages by using pictures media on student’s text on student
writing skill at the Eighth Grade in SMP Islam Nurul Jadid Panglegur
Pamekasan. The last is What the disadvantages by using pictures media on
descriptive text on student’s writing skill at the Eighth Grade in SMP Islam
Nurul Jadid Panglegur Pamekasan.
In this research, the researcher uses a qualitative approach with
descriptive design. The data was obtained by observing the use of pictures
media to describing text on student’s writing skill at the eighth grade in SMP
Islam Nurul Jadid Panglegur Pamekasan in the class, so from the observation
the researcher describes how the teacher uses pictures media on descriptive
text on student’s writing skill and then the researcher conducts interview the
teacher and the students to know the advantages and disadvantages of the use
of pictures media of descriptive text in teaching writing skill. Besides that,
the researcher uses doocumentation in collecting the data.
The result of the research indicated that the use of pictures media in
writing especially of descriptive text can help the students be easy to get idea,
to get motivation and to make easy to write, then the strategy is not bored ad
enjoyable in teaching learning process especially in teaching writing. Besides,
it needs long time to using this strategy, must manage the class, because the
students need translate about their result, so the situation of class can be
crowded. Then, the teacher has to control the student’s activities in the class.
The researcher hopes this study can be used by the teacher as one way
to enrich the reference shout improving the students writing skill in the eighth.
