THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AUDIO LINGUAL METHOD IN LEARNING ENGLISH FOR STUDENT WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT AT SLB PGRI TLANAKAN PAMEKASAN

Speaking are language that need doing another student. This skill is an
important indicator for the success of someone to be able to speak English
correctly and fluently. Especially for student with visual impairment. By
mastering good speaking skills, students can communicate their ideas, both in
class and with foreign speakers, and also maintain good relationships with others.
Therefore the English teacher must be selective and creative in choosing teaching
methods in the classroom. Especially teaching children with special needs for the
blind. The English teacher uses the Audio Lingual Method in teaching English to
class VIII SLB PGRI Tlanakan Pamekasan students. Because this method is seen
as an appropriate method to teach talking to children with special needs with
visual impairment. Where learning is more prioritizing training and repetition
activities (drilling and repeating) that can make it easier for students to dare to
speak using English even though they have to imitate and practice repeatedly.
This study aims to describe the steps in applying the Audio Lingual Method
in learning to speak English, problems faced by teachers in the process of learning
English, and how teachers deal with problems of learning English. The method
used in this research is descriptive qualitative. While the technique of data
collection is by observation, interview, and documentation.
In the learning process, the researcher found 3 stages of the application of
audio lingual method in teaching speaking English for students with special needs.
The first phase of activities carried out by the teacher in the class, namely the
initial activities (pre-teaching), the core activities (whileteaching), and the closing
activities (post-teaching). in the above process, it can be concluded that the
teacher in teaching using the audio lingual method to blind students is suitable
according to the deficiencies used in his possession
