THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ENGLISH CONVERSATION VIDEO ON VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE EIGHT GRADE OF SMPN 2 LARANGAN

Learning vocabulary is very important because vocabulary is one aspect in learning foreign language. In the teaching learning process the teacher should apply the best way to make the teaching vocabulary mastery more interesting and enjoyable. Vocabulary is a list of words used by people especially learners to create sentences. Mastering vocabulary is very important because it is the basic of learning English. By mastering vocabulary, learners can be easier to speak, listen, read and write. The researcher find that the effectiveness of English conversation video on students vocabulary mastery.
English conversation video is media for teacher to teaching the students with showing english conversation through video. In conversation video can telling about things, telling story with conversation by two people or more, about telling place with conversation by two people or more through video.There are two focused in this study. The first, is there any effect of using English conversation video on student’s vocabulary mastery at the eighth students of SMPN 2 Larangan. The second, how significant statistically the effectiveness of English conversation videoon vocabulary mastery at the eighth graderof SMPN 2 Larangan.
In this research, the researcher uses quantitative design, while kinds of design this research is pre-experimental design. To collect the data the researcher uses observation by entering to the classroom, score of pre-test and post-test, and documentation by taking picture in the teaching learning process.
The result of this research found that English conversation video in students vocabulary mastery at the eight grade of SMPN 2 Larangan is effective and the researcher states that the null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis accepted. It is proven from the result of t-value is higher than t-table. T-table in 5% significance level is 2,05 with degree of freedom 27. However, the t value of this research 7,17.
In consulting to analysis the data of the research t value of this research is higher than t table in level significant, it means that alternative hypothesis that state English conversation video is effective in teaching vocabulary mastery. So then alternative hypothesis (Ha) that is used by the researcher in this research is accepted.
