SYNTACTICAL ANALYSIS ON STUDENTS SHORT STORY PUBLISHED AT BBEC MADDING BY USING CHINES BOX

This thesis describes syntactic analysis of the sentences structures, sentence construction using Chinese box found in students' short storiespublished at BBEC Madding.The students' published short stories are considered to be grammatically and semantically correct. For this reason the researcher is interested to analyze the sentences written and profoundly checked by using chines boxes. Chinese box is graphically indicate by enclosing each ultimate constituent in a box and drawing large and larger boxes around the immediate constituent of each of the increasingly complex structures into which combine.
This researcher employs descriptive qualitative research to explore and understanding a central phenomenonIn this thesis the researcher used two kind data of collection, those are observation and documentation. In observation the researcher does something such as note the sentences from the short stories.
Having analyzed the data, the researcher finally found forty one form of the structure of short stories. Sentence structures found in the students’ short stories published at BBEC madding are structure of modification, structure of predication, structure of complementation and coordination. In the structure of modification includes structure of modification, structure of predication, structure of complementation and structure of coordination. The structure of predication are formed by different various types verbs as verb and linking verb. The structure of complementation are in form of verbal, and which the complement are to infinitive, and the verbal it can be verb phrase, structure modification with the head is verb. And adjective as complement with the linking verb as verbal position. While, structure of coordination are found in the use of conjunction “and”and“but”.
Therefore, the researcher gives some suggestions as the follow up of this finding, they are including: the tutor more concern on the students' sentence structure for expressingtheir ideas in the short stories.The students are expecting to use correct sentence structure in expressing their ideas to be more easily understood.This research will be useful for another researcher concerning linguistic phenomenon.
