In linguistics the study to discuss about the process of words is called morphology. Word formation is one of the concerns of morphology which is included by the ways of formed new words, such as compound word, is a process of formed new words and also has the meaning. The process of creating new word can find in daily life. Advertisement is one of the concern that use many new words. One example is the word in the name of foods and beverages advertisement thas has an interseting meaning. There are several names of foods and beverages found in the advertisement that can be analyzed based on compounding word.
The researcher formulates two research problems in this thesis, What types of compounding are found on “culinary awards” rubricin foods and beverages menu advertisement in Jawa Pos newspaper edition October 2018? and What are the meaning of compounding in foods and beverages menu advertisement in Jawa Pos newspaper edition October 2018?. So, the researcher proposes this thesis to analyze the process of creating new word in the name of foods and beverages menu advertisement that found in Jawa Pos newspaper edition October 2018 also analyze the types and the meaning based on compounding word of each terms.
This research use qualitative approach and descriptive research in describing some phenomena. Source of data obtained through observation and documentation the researcher use newspaper as a data source. In this study the researcher use triangulation to verify the data.
The result of data analysis shows that the first is types compound word based on theory Lieber found in the name of foods and beverages advertisement are attributive, coordinative and subordinative compound. Second, the meaning of compound word based on theory Ullmann are transparent and opaque meaning.
