THE ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH SYLLABUS ON NATURAL SCIENCE PROGRAM AT TENTH GRADE OF SMA ISLAM AN-NIDHOMIYAH PAMEKASAN BASED ON TOM HUTCHINSON PERSPECTIVE

English for specific purposes is parts of language teaching focuses on teaching-learning of English as a foreign language that has a purpose to improve students ability in English based on their studies. In the teaching learning process the teacher must use the syllabus as standard that can help the teacher in learning activity and based on English for specific purpose theory the syllabus must be support their studies its self.
There are two research focuses in this research. Firstly, is the syllabus for the tenth grade of natural science program at SMA ISLAM AN-NIDHOMIYAH Pamekasan appropriate to the student’s based on Tom Hutchinson Perspective, secondly how does the content of the English syllabus on natural science program at tenth grade of SMA ISLAM AN-NIDHOMIYAH Pamekasan appropriate with Tom Hutchinson Perspective.
This study is uses library research and qualitative approach, and the English syllabus on natural science program at tenth grade of SMA ISLAM AN-NIDHOMIYAH Pamekasa as data source and the researcher used triangulation of data source for validity the data focus on syllabus on natural science program at tenth grade of SMA ISLAM AN-NIDHOMIYAH Pamekasan and the data collecting procedure that used by the researcher are observation, and documentation as a data collection.
Based on the researcher, the English teacher said that English is very important because sometimes when they join in science Olympiad the question uses English language so that they need learn about English for science it is suitable with their studies or their program is natural science program, but in this case the syllabus that used by the teacher in teaching process is still general not appropriate with ESP context based on their studies, the teacher just followed the syllabus is arrange by the government. The syllabus is not appropriate with Tom Hutchinson Perspective although it has based on criteria of syllabus organization but is not appropriate with student’s need as students of natural science program.
Based on this research, it is suggested for reader to take some advantages of this study and for further researcher will conduct and continue this research based on the other view or the other perspective that will use to analyse the English syllabus.
