THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ENGLISH DEBATE TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL AT ELEVENTH GRADE OF SMAN 3 SAMPANG

In learning English language, there are four skills that should comprehend by the students. They are reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The teacher uses English debate technique to teach speaking subject in eleventh grade of SMAN 3 Sampang to make the students interested to speak English.
There are three problems in this research. The first how the implementation of English debate technique on students’ speaking skill at eleventh grade of SMAN 3 Sampang. The second what are the advantages of English debate technique being able develop students’ speaking skill at eleventh grade of SMAN 3 Sampang. The third what are the disadvantages of English debate technique on students’ speaking skill at eleventh grade of SMAN 3 Sampang.
In this research, the researcher use qualitative research as an approach of this research. While kind of research, the researcher uses descriptive research because it is intended to describe how the teacher implements English debate technique, to know the advantages and disadvantages of English debate technique on students’ speaking skill in teaching learning process.
The result of the study showed that the implementation of English debate technique on students’ speaking skill can be called success and run effectivelybecause the teacher could implemented English debate technique well and the students obedient all of the rules that the teacher apply in this technique. The teacher divided the students into two groups are proposition’s group and opposition’s group for the topic. The implementation of English debate technique make most of the students easy to express their ideas, more confidence to speak-up, feel easy to develop their speaking skill, increase their knowledge in English, and work in team well. The implementation of English debate technique give two disadvantages for the teacher. The first is the teacher got disadvantage to manage the time, and the second is the shy’s students became silent because cannot speak English well.
