THE ANALYSIS OF TEACHER’S POLITENESS STRATEGIES IN TEACHING ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILL AT SEVENTH GRADE OF MTS AL- INAYAH SUMBER BATU PEGANTENAN BASED ON BROWN LEVINSON’S PERSPECTIVE

People assume that language as problem how we can speak fluency and can be understood by the audience, without think that language not only about understanding, but also how to speak and give good impressionand create good relationship. So that, we can respect each other. Just at the moment, if the teacher uses politeness strategies, the students will be comfortable in teaching learning process specially in speaking skill. It will teach the students that politeness important to be practiced in daily life and teaching learning process.
This phenomenon makes the researcher interested to research. There are three research focus in this research. The first, kinds of politeness strategies that is used by the teacher in teaching English speaking skill at seventh grade of MTs Al-InayahSumberBatuPegantenan based on Brown’ perspective, the second, the teacher’s politeness used in teaching English speaking skill at seventh grade of MTs Al-InayahSumberBatuPegantenan based on Brown’ perspective, the third the student’s responses on the teacher’s politeness strategies in teaching English speaking skillat seventh grade of MTs Al-InayahSumberBatuPegantenan.
In this research, the researcher used qualitative descriptive. The researcher analysis of the kinds of politeness that is used by the teacher in teaching English speaking skill at seventh grade of MTs Al-InayahsumberBatuPegantenan. To obtain the data, the researcher used two instruments as main instrument namely observation and interview and documentation as supporting instrument.
From the result of research, the researcher found three kinds of politeness that is used by the teacher in teaching English speaking skill namely positive politeness, negative politeness, and bald on record. While positive politeness used more than another politeness in teaching English speaking skill when the teacher givescommand or accost. The teacher used politeness strategies in three steps; pre-teaching, whilst-teaching, and post-teaching.The last, the students have positive responses on the teacher’s politeness strategies in teaching English-speaking skill namely: active, interested, enthusiast, and important.
Based the on result of research above, the researcher hopes can change someone’s assumption that in speaking needs politeness. So that, it will create comfortable and it will give good impression to the audience, moreover the relationship between teacher and student, so that way, the goal of teaching learning process will be achieved. It is also hoped to further researcher to continue this research to different domain; so many kinds of politeness strategies and sources of politeness strategies from experts that is became reference in their research.
