THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING GUESSING GAME ON STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION AT THE EIGHT GRADE IN SMPN 5 PAMEKASAN

The guessing game is one of games technique that can be used to improve skills of students in English class. Particularly, on students reading comprehension. In the learning process a lot of technique used by the teachers in the classroom, as used by english teacher at SMPN 5 Pamekasan used reading comprehension to improve the english language skills of students.
There are two problems in this research. the first is How does the effectivenes of using guessing game to reading comprehension of the eight grade students of SMPN 5 Pamekasan. The second is How effective is using guessing game to students reading comprehension of the eight grade students of SMPN 5 Pamekasan.
The purpose in this research to know that how far the effectiveness of using guessing game on students reading comprehension.
In this research, the reasercher uses alternative hypothesis stated that students who taught reading comprehension by using guessing game have higher achievement than those taught not using guessing game. In this research there are two variables, variable X is (Guessing Game) and variable Y is (reading comprehension).
The researcher in this research used quantitative approach. The population i this research is all students at SMPN 5 Pamekasan and the sample is the eight grade at SMPN 5 Pamekasan. The instrument in this research is Pre-test and post-test one group design, documentation. The result of this stated that using guessing game have effectiveness on students reading comprehesion. We can see the result of statistical that t0 is higher than t-table either on the level significance 5% (3,7861738033 > 2,14), or on the level of significance 1% (3,7861738033 > 2,98) Based on the result above, there is effectiveness of using game on students reading comprehension of the eight grade at SMPN 5 pamekasan. It is mean hypothesis in this research is recieved. So, reading comprehension can effective by using guesing game in teaching learning process.
