THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AFTERNOON TALK TECHNIQUE ON MEMBERS’ ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILL AT FUN ENGLISH CLUB (FEC) OF STAIN PAMEKASAN

There are four skill in English: listening, speaking, reading and writing. But, speaking seems the most important because people used it in their daily life. As a mentor, they must be able to shoose and uses a good technique. Afternoon talk is one technique that implemented by mentor in Fun English Club of STAIN Pamekasan to make the member enjoy in the activity.
There are four research focuses in this study. The first is how the mentor implements afternoon talk technique in teaching English speaking skill at FEC of STAIN Pamekasan. The second is how the members’¬ opinions by learning of afternoon talk technique in teaching English speaking skill at FEC of STAIN Pamekasan. The third is what the obstacles are faced by mentor in the implementation of afternoon talk technique in teaching English speaking skill at FEC of STAIN Pamekasan. and the fourth is how the mentor overcome the obstacles in the implementation of afternoon talk technique in teaching English speaking skill at FEC of STAIN Pamekasan
In this research, the researcher used qualitative research as the approach of research and kind of research is descriptive. The data source are the mentor and the members at FEC of STAIN Pamekasan. And to collect the data, the researcher used three technique, those are observation, interview and documentation.
The result of this research shown that afternoon talk technique that applied by mentor in FEC is run well. The study began with introduction about the material, the mentor explain the material, after that the mentor ask the member to convey their result in front of the class, then the mentor tries to respons the members story and give opportunity to other memmber who want to ask. It alternate until nothing members who want to speak. From the interview with some members : afternoon talk technique help the member to speak, afternoon talk is a good technique, afternoon talk technique help the member to build self-confidence, and the last afternoon talk technique make the members enjoy in the class. Additionally, the mentor faced some obstacle in the implementation of afternoon talk technique: the members of FEC have less practice, the member lack of vocabulary, the members still have no self confidence. While there are several ways to overcome the obstacles: The members must practice to speak English such as Every members must use English in their communication, give opportunity to the members to speak anything, the mentor teach them how to pronounce well, the mentor explain by using familiar word, and giving motivation to the member.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for the mentor to choose and uses a good technique to make the members enjoy in the class so that they able to speak anything relate with the topic and should give motivation to them. While, the members should pay attention about the mentors motivation and must be consistent to join the activity FEC so that they will be practice English continuity. And for other researcher, ther researcher hopes this research will help the other researcher to conduct the research in the same topic but different approach.
