THE EFFECT OF RETELLING MOVIES ON STUDENTS SPEAKING SKILL AT THE 9TH GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 KADUR PAMEKASAN

Language is a tool that used by peoples to communicate with other people. Because by using language we are able to express our feeling, knowledge, opinion and also our experiences. English is one of language in the world. And there are four skills in English such as Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Speaking is perhaps skill that demanded for the teachers teach their students. So that the teacher must create situation that can motivate students in order to they can speak English well such as by using movie.
There are two research problems in this research. First, do the students taught by using retelling movies have better speaking ability than those taught by using non-retelling movies at the 9th grade of Junior High School 1 Kadur Pamekasan. The second, how is statiscally significant difference between students taught by using retelling movies than those taught by using non-retelling movies on their speaking ability at the 9th grade of Junior High School 1 Kadur Pamekasan.
This research used to find out the effect of retelling movies on students speaking skill at the ninth grade of Junior High School 1 Kadur Pamekasan. And to measure the significant of retelling movies on students speaking skill at the 9th grade of Junior High School 1 Kadur Pamekasan.
This research is quantitative research, while the type of this research is quasi experimental. There are two variables in this research, the independent variable is retelling movies and dependent variable is speaking skill. The population are all students at the 9th grade of Junior High School 1 Kadur Pamekasan that amount 38 students. There are two groups, class A as experimental group and B class as control group. Research instrument which are used test and documentation. The obtained of data from test for analyzed by using T-test formula.
The result of research showed that there is not effect of retelling movies on students speaking skill at the 9th grade of Junior High School 1 Kadur Pamekasan, because it is not significant. It proved that t-value is lower than t-table either in 5% or 1% , (5%= 2,02 > 1,39) or (1%= 2,71 > 1,39). Based on result above, it is suggested for English teacher in order to using retelling movie more often to make students more active and self confidence in speaking skill. And it is suggested for students to always practice their speaking skill, so that they can speak English fluency
